The core of Christian belief centers on Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Holy Spirit—His death, descent into hell, resurrection, and ascension. Equally vital are the holiness of the Church, the communion of saints, Christ’s second coming, the Day of Judgment, and the salvation of the faithful. Among Jesus’ primary teachings, later embraced by Christians, are: love God and your neighbor as yourself; forgive those who wrong you; love your enemies; seek God’s forgiveness; and recognize that Jesus, as the Messiah, was given the authority to forgive sins. Repentance remains essential for salvation.
A true Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ and models their life after His example. Being a Christian often leads to persecution, yet Christians glorify God through it.
